Sick Puppies and Chevelle stole the show
Tight band, i wouldn't mind seeing them again at all! Opening the set were Bad Medicine which put on a powerful live show while the venue was still filling up. Great show! The installations at Heartland Centre were great, and besides the cold outside we all were comfortable all the way.
Next up were Jarvis. I definitely have to check more about these guys! Good show, good songs - It surprised me to see so many people singing along with this band, which was basically unknown to me.
Then, Sick Puppies. Amazing songs and they put on a hell of a live show! These Aussies were incredible all the way through! I'm a Sick Puppies fan after this show... why these guys aren't much bigger than they are now is a complete mystery to me, I can easily see them becoming a huge mainstream band.
An closing the festival, BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical. World-class act, great, GREAT sound (I can't believe how these three guys sound live) and a powerful set. People were going crazy by the time the final songs played. These guys, along with Sick Puppies were by far the highlights. BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical put on a great show covering like 10 of their hits and well-known songs.
Puddle of Mudd. I'm not really a PoD fan, but it has to be said - these guys DO know how to put on a live show. The set were all well-known songs, so we had a crowd psyched and singing along all the way through.
Overall, a great show. I drove all the way from Omaha to see this and it was worth every mile. If anything, I'd like a longer setlist for all the bands (no one got past 10 songs, and thing Bad Medicine did 5 or 6 - I'd love to hear more from them), but if this show is any indication of how the Thunderfest usually goes, I can't recommend this show enough.
